The Washington Capitals added a new prospect on Wednesday afternoon, inking Maximilian Kammerer to a three-year, two-way entry level contract beginning in the 2018-19 season. The deal carries an average annual value of $870,000.

The Washington Capitals have signed forward Maximilian Kammerer to a three-year, two-way, entry level contract beginning in the 2018-19 season, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today. Kammerer’s contract will carry an average annual value of $870,000.
The Dusseldorf, Germany, native recorded 31 points (6g, 25a) in 52 regular season games with Dusseldorf in the German Hockey League (DEL) this season. The 6’1″, 185-pound forward also appeared in nine games for Germany in international competition and recorded three points (1g, 2a).
Kammerer, 21, finished with 26 points (15g, 11a) in 51 games with Dusseldorf during the 2016-17 season, where he was named DEL Rookie of the Year. In 125 career games in the DEL, Kammerer recorded 61 points (22g, 39a).
Internationally, Kammerer represented Germany in the World Junior Championship twice (2013, 2014) and was named to Germany’s U-20 World Championship three times (2014, 2015 and 2016).
At the junior level, Kammerer played in the WHL with the Regina Pats during the 2013-14 season, finishing with three points (1g, 2a) in 40 games.
