Capitals Prospect Garrett Pilon Continues Impressive Scoring Pace in Postseason

A majority of the Capitals prospects have hung-up their skates for the 2017-2018 season, but one prospect continues to scorch the twine in Western Hockey League (WHL) postseason play.

Garrett Pilon, the Washington Capitals 3rd round draft pick (87th) in 2016 NHL Entry Draft, has continued his scoring rampage from the regular season. Pilon now has 10 goals and 11 assists (21 points) in 14 postseason games, for a 1.50 points-per -game average for the Everett Silvertips. Pilon and the Silvertips are a win away from advancing to the finals of the WHL playoffs.

The impressive postseason production includes a hat trick on March 24th against the Seattle Thunderbirds in Game 2 of the Western Hockey League (WHL) playoffs.

Pilon also recorded two hat tricks during regular season action, one on November 24th against the Medicine Hat Tigers and another on January 13th against the Spokane Chiefs.

Pilon, the 20-year-old centerman, finished the regular season with 34 goals and 46 assists in 69 games played for Kamloops Blazers and Everett Silvertips.

The Capitals signed Pilon to a three-year entry-level contract in March of 2017.

Hershey Calling
Pilon ended his the 2016-2017 with a brief stop in Hershey, playing in one playoff game. Pilon’s offensive skills and scoring capabilities are desperately needed in Hershey, so look for him to be moving his game to the Giant Center next fall. There is very little left for Pilon to gain from the Western Hockey League, so it seems a foregone conclusion that Pilon will be in Hershey for the 2018-2019 season.
