The Washington Capitals AHL affiliate team, the Hershey Bears announced today that the team will be honoring the victims of the Humboldt Broncos tragedy at their game on April 14th against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
Fans in attendance will be asked to be in their seats early as the Bears will be hosting a pre puck drop presentation and remembrance ceremony, during which, both teams will come together, alongside skaters from the Central Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League. During this time, the Canadian National Anthem will be performed. Throughout the night, there will be many opportunities to make donations to the victims, their families, and the Humboldt community.

Section 125 of the Giant Center will offer numerous ways to help those affected by this awful tragedy. The most interesting of which is a raffle. This raffle, which those who attend the game are able to enter into until the start of the third period, will offer many prizes, such as a helmet, a skater stick, a goalie stick, and most exciting of all, a plaque of the Hershey Bears logo in the Humboldt Broncos’ team colors, signed by the Bears team as well the Sound Tigers. All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the families of those the hockey community lost.
Additionally, 100% of the proceeds earned by the Hershey Bears Booster Club over the weekend will be donated to the families in Humboldt who lost their sons and brothers. The Hershey Bears will also play their game against Bridgeport with the Humboldt Broncos team logo on their helmets.
Relief for the families and loves ones of the Broncos hockey team is pouring in from all over the world. Their GoFundMe fundraiser has already earned more than twice what their initial asking amount. If you are unable to attend Saturday’s game in Hershey and would like to make a donation to the cause, you can find the team’s fundraiser here:
