The Washington Capitals will take on the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs with Game 1 beginning on Thursday April 12 at Capital One Arena. The Capitals will host the first two games while the series shifts to Columbus Ohio for Games 3 and 4. If necessary, the series will go back to D.C. for a Game 5 while Game 6 will be in Columbus. The decisive Game 7, should this series be tied at three game will be in D.C.
While the NHL will start the playoffs on Wednesday April 11, the Caps will begin their quest for the Cup on Thursday April 12. This marks the third year in a row the Capitals will begin the playoffs on the second day.
Game 2 will take place on Sunday night. Games 3 and 4 in Columbus will be next Tuesday and Thursday. Game times will be announced for Game’s 2 and 3 after the conclusion of tonight’s game between the Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers. Should this series take more than four games the game times for those dates for Games 5-7 will be announced at a later date.
