Caps woke up too late for the game.

The Flyers looked like the fresher team even though they played the Canes yesterday (and came from behind to beat them, too.) Did our games against the Isles take that much out of us? (Okay, they won pretty big in both but did the thuggery and goonery on the part of the Isles take a lot out of us.)

Do we really miss Orpik that much even though all advanced stats had proved he was our worst D-man for the year?

Based on how today (and the other Flyers games) have gone this year, if the Caps met the Flyers in the playoffs, I would predict Flyers in 5.

    • Yep…You’d have thought it was the Caps playing the second end of a back-to-back and not our opponent. Sorry, but Brooks Orpik isn’t my idea of a great defenseman–and I didn’t need to consult the Metrics Mavens to reach that conclusion…I don’t care how many shots he blocks….Whenever he turns the puck over or commits stupid penalties they’re always at the wrong time or deep in our own end. Yet nobody f*cking says anything about in our cotton candy press corps (Joe Beninati, Craig Laughlin, Tariq al Bashir, et al…)

My prediction? We won’t get bounced out of the playoffs in the second round by Pittsburgh this time because we won’t even make it out of the first (no matter who we face)…and then GMBM will probably reward coach Trotz for it with a lavish contract extension and an opportunity to cramp the development of our best young players for another three or four years…

nice call!!good to see a caps fan be a realist.that’s 3 of for for flyers vs.caps this year and 2 of those wins were blowouts.you should pray for someone other than the flyers in the 1st round.yesterdays game was not even close.flyers dominated all around.congrats to carlson on taking over leading d scoring in the nhl.that should equate to getting paid around$7.5 million or more.that will either break the caps salary cap # which is already broken or he leaves and the caps get stuck with 5 entry level contracts on d!!nightmare created by bm gm!

      might not go 5!!!
