In attendance at the ceremony was Capitals owner Ted Leonsis, team president Dick Patrick along with Ovechkin’s wife Nastya Ovechkina who were over at the other end of the ice. Next to them was the gift that Ovechkin would receive.
The Capitals presented Ovechkin with a portrait of himself. There were actually three Alex Ovechkins in the painting. One with Alex sporting the home black jersey that was worn during his first two seasons with the Capitals. Another was with the alternate third jerseys that were first worn in the 2011 Winter Classic and then again from 2011-12 through the 2014-15 season and then finally, Ovechkin in the current home red jersey.
