The Washington Capitals got off to a sluggish start in the first 20 minutes of Wednesday night’s game, trailing the Philadelphia Flyers 2-0. In the final two periods, the Caps heated up, scoring five unanswered goals en route to a 5-3 win. On Thursday morning at Kettler Capitals Iceplex, the team returned to the ice to build off of last night’s big win as they’ll head up to state of Pennsylvania to take on that other team that happens to be from Pittsburgh. Here are the news and the notes from Thursday morning.

- Chandler Stephenson scored two goals in a span of 47 seconds in the Capitals’ 5-3 win over the Flyers. That marked the quickest back-to-back goals by a single Capital this season (previous fastest: Alex Ovechkin: 2:31 vs. Ottawa on 10/5/17).
- Stephenson’s back-to-back goals in 47 seconds also marked the quickest back-to-back goals in under a minute since Ovechkin scored a pair 53 seconds apart on Jan. 28, 2014 vs. the Buffalo Sabres.
- Stephenson became the 10th player this season to score two goals in under a minute.
