Evgeny Kuznetsov left the game midway through the third period after appearing to suffer a groin injury when he got tangled up after a face off with Florida Panthers’ center Jared McCann. He did not return in the Capitals-Panthers game at BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida.
Capitals’ coach Barry Trotz said Kuznetsov will be reevaluated tomorrow and added that he was walking around in the locker room.

Kuznetsov tallied a pair of assists, had three shots on goal and won 36% of the faceoffs he took in Washington’s 4-2 win against Florida on Thursday night.
Kuznetsov is second on the Capitals with 43 points, eight behind captain Alex Ovechkin for the team lead. In addition, he is an assist shy of John Carlson‘s team-leading 31 helpers.
Kuznetsov has not missed a game since the 2014-15 season and has never missed one due to injury in his career.
Earlier Thursday, Trotz said he wanted more from the 25-year old Russian center, who had just tallied just one goal and six points in his previous 12 games entering tonight’s game.
Luckily for Kuznetsov and the Capitals, they have six days until their next game against the Philadelphia Flyers with the NHL’s All-Star festivities taking place in Tampa Bay Saturday and Sunday.
The Capitals’ snapped their three-game losing streak (0-1-2) in Florida on Thursday night.
