The Hershey Bears are taking it outdoors for the 2018 Capital BlueCross Outdoor Classic, set for this Friday Jan. 19 and Saturday, Jan. 20 at Hersheypark Stadium. With the game now just five days away, Hershey Park Stadium is starting to look a lot like hockey.

On Monday the Bears released a time-lapse video of the rink construction. The timelapse contains footage from Jan. 2 through today, Jan. 15. (Video by Great Save Productions).

The rink construction started the first week of January. Project manager Jim Hartnett of EIS Rinks is assisting with the build, as he did during the 2013 Capital BlueCross AHL Outdoor Classic in Hershey.

The 2018 Capital BlueCross Outdoor Classic marks just the second time the Bears have hosted an outdoor game. The Bears will be playing the game of hockey in its purest form, skating on a frozen pond, under the night sky as they battle the elements to host rival Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Saturday, Jan. 20. The festivities start the night before on Friday, Jan. 19 as part of a jam-packed weekend.
