Marc Price and his wife Lindsey were out adventuring. The seven-year couple rented an RV and explored the U.S. and Canada. During their trip they made it out to Yellowstone National Park and got surprising news.
“We found out we were expecting. We were beyond happy, and realized that our adventures had come to an end,” said Marc.
Indeed the traveling adventures came to an end and soon they were about to embark on the adventure of starting a family of their own.
The couple lived in the DC area for many years before moving out to Seaside, Oregon last January. Both Marc and Lindsey are diehard Capitals fans, a loyalty that extends throughout their whole family. Living out west, it isn’t easy keeping up with the team but Marc was still able to keep tabs on the Caps through Facebook and his mom sending him play-by-play notes. Marc and his wife decided after finding out they were expecting a baby that they should move back closer to home so the two headed back east to Richmond, Va.
“We wanted to be closer to the family and the strong support system we’ve had there for years,” Marc explained.
Back in the DMV, the two had to break the news of the baby they were expecting to the rest of the family somehow at some point and Lindsey came up with the idea of sharing it to the family at a Caps game.
“Being the type of person I am, I had to one up this and do something a little bigger,” said Marc.
How big? Renting a suite! They did so for the Capitals game on Nov. 24 against the Tampa Bay Lightning but that wasn’t the only trick Marc had up his sleeve.
“I wanted to find a way to get Rod Langway to surprise my parents. After talking to one of my dear friends who knew Rod personally he said he would reach out. Sure enough, he came through!,” said Marc.
Langway came in to surprise the family by presenting them with a infant Capitals jersey with the last name “Price” on the back along with the number “18” for 2018.
“I can’t even begin to tell you how surprised and much this meant to us,” Marc said. “With my mom in tears and everyone in the room mesmirized this was probably one of the greatest moments of my life.”
Unsure of how to repay Langway for the time he took out of his schedule to help Marc and Lindsey break the news, the Caps alum that fans call the “secretary of defense” only had one simple request.
“Can I hold the baby?”, Langway asked.
“Absolutely!”, Marc replied.
