In the midst of their 80th season in the American Hockey League, the Capitals’ AHL affiliate Hershey Bears unveiled their jerseys for the 2018 Capital BlueCross Outdoor Classic, which the Bears will host at HersheyPark Stadium on January 20 against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

The design of the jersey is very similar to the ones that the Bears wore when they won the Calder Cup in 1969, and features the Bears’ popular skating bear logo, as well as the team’s 80th season patch and the Outdoor Classic logo with HersheyPark Stadium. The jerseys will be auctioned off after the game, with proceeds benefiting the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, Red Cross of Central Pennsylvania, and American Special Hockey Association, per the team’s official press release, which can be found here.

The jersey and patches were designed with the help of Joe Bosack and Co. of Pottsville, Pennsylvania. Sublimated jerseys will become available to fans sometime next week and can be purchased at the team’s official store, Hershey Sports. Replica jerseys will be sold at the game on January 20. The Phantoms will also be wearing special sweaters of their own, and those will also become available soon. The Bears released an official statement regarding their special sweaters:

“We’re excited to unveil our specialty jersey for the 2018 Capital BlueCross Outdoor Classic,” said Hershey’s Vice President of Hockey Operations Bryan Helmer. “This jersey celebrates the rich tradition of the Hershey Bears and pulls design elements from many historic eras in our 80 year history. We’re thrilled to take the ice outdoors in this jersey, and represent the great tradition of the Chocolate and White.”

The Bears currently sit in sixth place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 12-13-0-3, and are coming off a 3-0 loss to the Providence Bruins last night at Giant Center.
