Former Capitals forward Brooks Laich was always known for being one of the team’s most active participants in charity events and helping those in need (see tire change) during his time with the team, and to this day, that selfless attitude hasn’t changed. Laich and wife Julianne Hough announced today on social media that they are starting a humanitarian campaign to help people around the world.
The campaign, called Love United is a campaign designed to help people in poor living conditions around the world. The charity’s first mission is a partnership with Charity Water, which raises money to bring clean and safe drinking eater to those around the globe. In an Instagram post announcing the campaign, Laich describes in detail the goal of the mission. The accompanying video shows Laich and Hough on their honeymoon in Kenya with members of the Maasai people (the native people of that area).
The couple encourage fans to donate to help with water well projects throughout Africa, a continent that has struggled with contaminated drinking water and less than ideal living conditions for many of the local people. 100% of all donations to the charity will be donated to fund clean water projects.
