Ben Raby Autographing Event: “100 Things Capitals Fans Should Know and Do Before They Die”

On Sunday, sports journalist Ben Raby appeared at Just One More Page, a bookstore located in Falls Church, Virginia, to sign copies of his new book “100 Things Capitals Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die”.

“100 Things Capitals Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die is the ultimate resource for true fans of the Caps. Whether you were there through the early dark days of the franchise, or whether you’re a more recent supporter of Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom, these are the 100 things every fan needs to know and do in their lifetime. Experienced sportswriter Ben Raby has collected every essential piece of Caps knowledge and trivia, as well as must-do activities, and ranks them all from 1 to 100, providing an entertaining and easy-to-follow checklist as you progress on your way to fan superstardom.”

Also attending the event to provide support for Ben were other members of the Caps media, including Caps Radio host and play-by-play man John Walton, Washington Post reporter Isabelle Khurshudyan, and Stephen Whyno.

During the event, Raby took questions from fans and discussed his process for writing the book. He mentioned that he had interviewed Capitals personnel who had been associated with the team throughout the team’s history.  This included personnel from the earliest era, when the team was the worst team in NHL history, up to the present.

Raby told stories about when veterans, such as Jeff Halpern, originally encountered Alexander Ovechkin, as well as stories from the campaign to “Save the Caps”.   He also included stories that were not included in the book, such as the pranks that Dale Hunter had pulled off against both teammates and coaches.

Looks like my reply got tagged as Anonymous since I posted from my phone instead of my home computer. But it was so great meeting you and seeing other folks from the Caps media.
