The Caps held morning skate at 11:30 this morning at the Purdential Center in Newark. The Caps will face Marcus Johansson and the red-hot Mew Jersey Devils tonight at “The Rock”. Puck drop at 7:00 PM.

Practice lines at morning skate were essentially the same as yesterday’s’ practice. Also, Braden Holtby will get the start tonight, which means it’s very likely that Philipp Grubauer will get the start tomorrrow night in Philadelphia.

It looks like Nathan Walker and Taylor Chorney will be your healthy scratches tonight for a second straight game.

From the Devil’s side:

The Devils held their morning skate prior to the Capitals. Following the skate, former Washington Capital Marcus Johansson met with the media and discussed what it’s like to be facing his former team.

It looks like Cory Schneider will get the start in goal for the Devils tonight.

SHAVINGS

This is the first of four meetings with the Devils this season. Washington posted a 3-0-1 record against New Jersey last season and has a 22-9-9 record against the Devils since the 2007-08 season. The Capitals hold an all-time record of 105-74-13-9 against the Devils.

Last season, Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov led the team with 4 points (2g, 2a each) against the Devils. Washington has earned a point in each of their last eight games against Devils (7-0-1).
