Before the puck dropped on the first home game in Las Vegas history, the Golden Knights put together a touching tribute to honor the victims and first responders of the shooting that occurred just weeks ago. The pregame ceremony gave me chills. From the 58 seconds of silence, to the “Go Knights Go” chants, I had goosebumps running up and down my body and I know I wasn’t the only one.
The night started with a tribute video of NHL stars saying that they’re #VegasStrong. The video also included our very own Alex Ovechkin!

This would be followed by a video tribute to the city and the first responders at large.
Tonight is about strength.
Tonight is about resilience.

Then it was time for player introductions. Unlike a traditional player intro for a home opener, each player was accompanied by a first responder.

The ceremony reached it’s conclusion with 58 seconds of silence to honor each victim that lost their life on that terrible night.

And no hockey pregame ceremony is complete without the ceremonial puck drop.
