NoVa Caps is Honored to Announce Inaugural Charity Partnership with USA Warriors Ice Hockey Teams

NoVa Caps USA WarriorsWe are honored to announce the inaugural NoVa Caps Charity Partnership with the USA Warriors Ice Hockey Teams, a non-profit DMV based organization whose mission is to operate exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, for those veterans wounded in defense of the United States of America.

In November of last year, I was honored to have the opportunity to interview one of the USA Warrior players and Purple Heart recipient, Mike Cain. As I was preparing for the interview, I also had the opportunity to meet with Thom Hirsh, Vice President of the USA Warriors Hockey Program. During my conversation with Thom, there was one comment he made that significantly resonated with me. I asked Thom what he was most proud of as it related to the USA Warrior programs, he said this: “That they are all still here“. He looked right into my eyes and said those words to me – and I just silently reflected on those words. We hear him saying those words in my mind, often.

Late this past summer, Jon Sorensen, NoVa Caps’ Founder, asked me if I would be interested in spearheading NoVa Caps initial season-long charity initiative. Jon shared with me that it was very important to him and to the NoVa Caps’ mission to develop and execute a charitable partnership. We considered so many outstanding non-profit organizations. But we continued to think about the USA Warriors – and specifically Thom’s words I shared with you above, as well as Mike Cain’s story – one that is so very powerful. It didn’t take us very long to reach our decision. We selected the USA Warriors Ice Hockey Teams to be NoVa Caps inaugural charity partner!

Our partnership is now underway and will continue for the entire 2017-2018 season. We are planning to do a lot between now and April! We want all of you – our passionate followers and fellow hockey fans, to get to know the Warriors and love them as much as we do! And to please consider helping us achieve our mission for this initiative.

We have two primary objectives:

  • To raise the awareness of the Warriors, and
  • To fund raise on their behalf.

We have created a “Go Fund Me” campaign and our goal to raise $5,000 between now and the end of the season. We could really use your support and the power of social media to help us in spreading the word about our Warrior Campaign!

If you are able, we would be so thankful if you would please consider making a charitable donation to the USA Warriors via our “Go Fund Me” campaign.  To make a donation, simply click on the “Go Fund Me” logo below:

The funds raised via our campaign will primarily be used to assist in the costs of team travel and the player’s equipment needs. And please “share” the fundraiser with your social media network!

If you have questions about our campaign or if you’d like to help us out in reaching our goal, please feel free to contact me via NoVa Caps: novacapsfans@gmail.com.

Mike Cain Dod News

Finally, if you haven’t already, please click here to read the article I wrote about Mike Cain. Mike served our country in the Army and was awarded a Purple Heart. Mike plays on both of the USA Warrior Teams, the Standing team and the Sled team. And I think you may be captivated by learning more about him, his courage, how proud he was to serve our country and how much he loves his participation on the USA Warriors Ice Hockey Teams.
