Diversity is a big thing in sports today, especially in the NHL. This is a league with many great names from different countries playing the sport we all love. From Canadiens, to Russians, to Swedes, and even Americans, each athlete has one thing in common and that is their passion for hockey.
In the 100 year history of the National Hockey League, no player from Australia has laced up his skates in an NHL arena until tonight. Tonight is Nathan Walker’s night to shine as he takes the ice donning Capitals red as the home team in the Nation’s Capital takes on the Montreal Canadiens.
The Capitals put together a touching video tribute from many prominent Australian athletes wishing their fellow mate good luck.
Australians from around the sporting world send their praises to @NathanWalks10 on making his @nhl debut tonight! #GdayNate🇦🇺#ALLCAPSpic.twitter.com/ZlLKBHZzMU
