Capitals Announce Lineups for First Scrimmage on Sunday

The Washington Capitals will hold their first team scrimmage on Sunday at Kettler Capitals Iceplex. Puck drop is 9:45 a.m. and is open and free to the public.

On Saturday, the Capitals released the lineups for Sunday mornings game. The “Red” squad will face the “Blue” squad in the scrimmage.

Interesting lines and defensive pairs:
For the “Red” squad, defensive prospect Madison Bowey will be paired with Capitals’ Dmitry Orlov in the scrimmage. Jonas Siegenthaler will be paired with Taylor Chorney. For the “Blue” squad, 2016 first round pick Lucas Johansen will be paired with John Carlson. It’s clear these defensive pairings hold tremendous importance and will be a primary focus for the Caps coaching staff, as a decision regarding open defensive roster spots is coming very soon.

On the offensive side, the “Red” squad will feature an interesting top line combination of Andre Burakovsky, Nicklas Backstrom and Jakub Vrana. For the “Blue” squad, the marquee top line will see John Albert, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Alex Chiasson. There are big decisions to be made with both of these lines as well. The training camp roster and schedule can be found here:
