As expected, the Washington Capitals announced this morning that the 2017 Prospect Tournament scheduled for this weekend in Estero, Florida, has been canceled due to concerns about Hurricane Irma.

The National Hurricane Center’s 8:00 a.m. update showed Irma likely to strike Florida. The storm continues to have maximum sustained winds of 185 miles per hour.

The tournament had been scheduled to include prospects from the Capitals, Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Nashville Predators.

There is no word on what “Plan B” will entail. It is assumed that the Capitals prospects will still travel to Kettler, but the remains unconfirmed.
