Bears Sign Kelly Zajac

Kelly Zajac (#39) has signed a one-year, AHL contract the Hershey Bears announced via press release today. The forward spent a majority of the season with the organization’s ECHL affiliate, South Carolina Stingrays, where he helped lead the Stingrays to the Kelly Cup Finals.

Zajac appeared in nine games for Hershey last season, recording four goals and three assists before returning to South Carolina. The native of Winnipeg, Manitoba has also played for the former Albany Devils and the Manitoba Moose of the AHL as well as the Trenton Titans of the ECHL.

Zajac enjoyed his most successful offensive season to date with South Carolina last season. The 29-year-old center recorded 13 goals and 39 assists in 59 regular season games and an additional six goals and 11 assists in the club’s playoff run.

Zajac hails from a hockey family. Older brother Travis currently is on New Jersey’s roster while Darcy and Nolan have been Kelly’s teammates at some point during their careers. Nolan himself was also on Hershey’s roster last season after signing a PTO.
