Capitals Daily Report: Highlights from Day Two of Development Camp

After a long and exciting first day, the future Capitals were back on the Kettler ice for the second day of Development Camp. Today’s sessions featured drills by the goaltenders followed by a full practice session.

GOALIES
Over on the Capitals’ rink, goaltending coach Mitch Korn had each of the goalies do a shuffle. They looked like crabs!

Michael Lackey and Collin Delia really went at it.

Delia would then face shots from three different angles.

Mack Shields was on the other side of the rink using a medicine ball while facing breakaways.

Then it was Lackey’s turn.

FULL SQUAD
Once the goalies were done, it was time for all players to participate. There were three different drills going on at once, each one on different parts of the ice. Over on one end was the short rink. Kevin Elgestal had two goals in this clip.

Mason Mitchell and Connor Hobbs also found the back of the net.

In the middle of the rink, there was play going on from the top to the bottom. Michael Lackey looked good here.

As did Adam Carlson.

There were some fierce battles for the puck on the other side of the ice.

Stephen Collins and Axel Jonsson-Fjallby had a collision near the boards.

Jonsson-Fjallby and Beck Malenstyn dropped down and did push-ups at the end of the drill. Looks challenging doing it on the ice.

Then everybody switched to the public rink to continue drills. There was another short rink, though not as short as earlier. Check out where the nets are.

A shot by Mark Simpson goes off the post.

Then the ice was divided into two.

A couple more impressive saves by Lackey.

Sebastian Walfridsson showed great defense and cleared the puck here.

Garrett Pilon and Jonsson-Fjallby cleaned up the pucks and that wrapped up day two of Development Camp.

CLIP OF THE DAY

Lucas Johansen and Shane Gersich are amazing with the puck. Here they are playing catch while showing off their skills.
