With Friday’s announcement of the signing of T.J. Oshie to a long-term, eight year deal, came plenty of speculation that this might mean a ‘C’ for the front of Oshie’s Jersey. But what about the Capitals current captain, Alex Ovechkin? We want to get your thoughts.
So, who is your choice for captain of the Washington Capitals?

The C isn’t for how you play the game. It’s for your leadership and ability to get your team through tough games and a long series. Ovi doesn’t have that. I think it’d be a weight off his shoulders honestly.
Shame no Backtrom. Been there as a solid, quiet leader for years, stepped up in the locker room during the playoff despair. He’s my vote, Oshie second.
They should of given the “C” to Williams and Ovie should just concentrate on scoring I don’t see any motivators but I suppose Williams will move on because of these salary caps.
You give it to Oshie because how involved he is with the players. For Christs sake, he said he didn’t want his contract to interfere with the salary cap to let them make other deals. The guy is willing to take a pay cut to help the team. And he has faith in all of our guys.
Ovi is a great player and all but is not Captain material. Never has.

and so save himself from loosing his standart scoring pace by open insultation of TROTZ NOT PLAYING him. He could concentrate on scoring rathere than passing and making balanced offence.
As a captain it is questionable whether he could criticise trotz for makin “balanced offence”
because they would consider him selfish captain.
It is shame TROTZ knows only way how to make balance offence – by destruction of superstar.
Now they both who were limiting him point at him failing to score.
Ovi got killed by the coach.

every captain can become a great captain under great coach only, NOT under coach who oppose him,

3 year ago they fired george mac phee for failing to build supporting cast around captain.
But did they actually know WHAT SUPPORTING CAST IS?and how coach should use it??
Trotz turned supporting cast into something like replacing cast to turn 50 goal scorer into 30 goal scorer. He intentionally did what he should actually try to prevent.
So now istead of criticizing captain coach and GM should have a look at the mirror.
He just did what they wanted . Of course it was WRONG.
And the most inexcusable thing is that they let captain play while he was clearly injured and should not have played at all . Did they forgot what they preached all the season how they do not need him.?

Just think a shake up in that area might not be a bad idea and Ovi might really shine without the pressure.
