Braden Holtby, Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, and other stars of the National Hockey League descended upon Las Vegas for the NHL’s annual awards show. This year’s awards show was much different compared to previous years. Las Vegas has hosted the program for many years, but never had a team to show for it. Now they do. The city’s first professional sports franchise, the Vegas Golden Knights, will begin play next season. As part of the process of building a team from the ground up, Vegas had an expansion draft. On Wednesday night, in addition to the awards the NHL’s newest team announced their selections.Β
