Former NHL Goalie Niklas Backstrom mistaken for Capitals’ Nicklas Backstrom at Canadian Grand Prix

Former NHL goalie Niklas Backstrom, 39, who hails from Helsinki, Finland, was in Canada this weekend to take in the Canadian Grand Prix race in Montreal. Capitals’ star center Nicklas Backstrom, from Gavle, Sweden, was not in Montreal for the race, but his picture was.

It appears organizers may have made the easy mistake of mixing up the two hockey players and ended up using the wrong headshot on Niklas’ Backstrom’s pass.

Not a horrible or inconceivable mistake, but we wonder just how tight security is for the event and are they really checking these passes?
