It’s no secret the Capitals have a ton of talent set to become Unrestricted Free Agents (UFA’s) on July 1st. In fact, according to The Hockey News, four of the top 10 players in their annual free agency power rankings are Washington Capitals (at least for another month).

Here is The Hockey News (THN) top-20 free agent power rankings and where each of the players might be headed, according to THN.

READING THE TEA LEAVES:
The likelihood that any of the four players remain in Washington varies. Here’s how we see it right now:

T.J. Oshie – Out of the top 4 UFA’s, odds are best for Oshie remaining in Washington. Both the Capitals and Oshie have expressed significant interest in getting a deal done. A lot will depend on the amount required to sign other players and the final number for the salary cap. Chances of re-signing with the Capitals: 6/10.

Justin Williams – The second most likely player to remain in Washington, but chances are rather slim at this point. This is likely Williams’ last crack at a big contract in his playing career. He’ll receive decent offers from other contending teams – more than the Capitals will be able to pay. Chances of re-signing with the Capitals: 4/10

Karl Alzner – It’s unlikely that Alzner will return. He will receive a lot of attention in a weak defensemen market and will receive more lucrative offers from several other teams. Chances of remaining with the Capitals: 2/10

Kevin Shattenkirk – It’s highly unlikely that Shattenkirk returns to Washington. Shattenkirk is a New Yorker. Look for him to sign with the Rangers. Another ideal team would be the Dallas Stars. Chances of re-signing with the Capitals: 1/10
