Alex Ovechkin dressed up as Darth Vader for a Russian advertisement that is promoting a charity auction. The auction is called Elna Prerminova SOS by Lena Perminova and the proceeds will go towards the treatment of seriously ill children. The highest bidder will receive a children’s party and, yes, Ovechkin will make an appearance in that Darth Vader costume.

The video is from their Instagram account @sos_by_lenaperminova.

The description is translated below:

Warning! The action will last until 23:00 hours Moscow. A long-awaited answer – who is hiding under the guise of Darth Vader? Stunning Alexander Ovechkin is a real super hero and living legend, one of the  most titled hockey players of modern history, a three-time world champion. At the end of 2009, Alexander became one of the top 10 NHL players of the decade. He won the “Best Sniper” award six times, “Maurice Richard Trophy”, in January 2017 was included in the list of the 100 greatest hockey players in the history of the NHL for the first time and, only for @sos_by_lenaperminova, is Heroes from the “Star Warrior” at the children’s festival of the winner of our auction! Hurry to make your bets !!!

End translation.

One fan pointed out that Ovechkin used the wrong lightsaber. The one he used is the one that is used by new Star Wars villain Kylo Ren.
