The South Carolina Stingrays fell to the Colorado Eagles 3-2 (2OT) in game 1 of the Kelly Cup Finals Friday night. The Rays would take their first lead in the game with 2:33 left in the third, but would give up a goal with just 2 seconds left in regulation, sending the game into overtime. The Eagles would win it late in the second overtime period to take a 1-0 series lead. Game 2 is set for Sunday night in Colorado.
FIRST PERIOD:
Colorado opened up the scoring with a goal by Matt “The Big” Garbowsky at the 16:11 mark of the opening frame.

The first period would end with the Eagles up 1-0. Colorado outshot South Carolina 16-7 for the first period.
SECOND PERIOD:
The Rays tied the game with a goal from Scott Tanski with 9:46 left in the middle frame. Marcus Perrier and Max Nicastro were credited with the assists.

The second period would end with the game tied 1-1. Colorado outshot South Carolina 11-8 for the second period and 27-15 through two periods of play. Both teams were 0-4 on the power play through two periods of play.
THIRD PERIOD:
Colorado would be the benefactor of a 5-on-3 power play for 54 seconds midway through the third period, but could not find the back of the net. The Rays Steven McParland would give ?Carolina their first lead with 2:33 left in the game.

The Eagles would tie the game with 2 seconds left in the game to send game 1 into overtime.
