Backstrom joined Team Sweden for morning skate, prior to their contest against Denmark on Sunday night. Backstrom will play Sunday evening. He will center a line with William Nylander (Toronto Maple Leafs) and Oscar Lindberg (New York Rangers). The game will air on the NHL Network at 2pm EST.
Initially there was an issue with Backstrom’s insurance for playing in the tournament, but that was quickly resolved by Team Sweden.
