The Capitals held their break down day today at Kettler, where players cleaned their lockers and spoke with the media one final time. Evgeny Kuznetsov will be a restricted free agent this summer, but surely a top signing priority for the Capitals. Kuznetsov spoke with reporters about Game 7 and the road ahead.
No surprise, Kuzy beagan with a joke, trying to get a few laughs on an otherwise gloomy day.
Kuznetsov to reporters: “Why all of you act like someone died?”

He continued with the topics of Game 7 and the offseason:
Kuznetsov: “I don’t feel that they beat us. We lost that game.”

Kuzy on changes this offseason: ‘Can’t build a big building w/o underneath,’ says he thinks team will be stronger next year #Caps

Kuznetsov on RFA status: “I like this team. I feel comfortable.” Added that he feels like he has unfinished business here. #Caps

Kuznetsov scored 19 goals in the regular season and five goals in the playoffs. With Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin not getting any younger, the new generation of young guns like Kuznetsov are important to the team’s future.
Kuzy also provided a bit of levity on this gloomy day at Kettler:
Kuznetsov also said he wants to go to Germany. Because the best beer is there. And hockey players like beer.

Kuzy says he wishes he could go to Worlds with Ovi to drink a beer with him in Germany #Caps
