What’s old is new again when looking at next year’s schedule for the Hershey Bears. In a release, the Bears announced that the club’s schedule will feature three Western Conference opponents for 2017-2018. In addition, Charlotte will realign in the East.
The Checkers will become the 8th team in the Atlantic Division, joining Bridgeport, Hartford, Hershey, Lehigh Valley, Providence, Springfield, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Per the release, the Bears will still face the Phantoms and Penguins 12 times. The full schedule will be released at a later date.

Hershey will also face three of the seven teams from the Central Division, the Grand Rapids Griffins, the Milwaukee Admirals, and the Rockford IceHogs.
The Bears last played the Griffins, the affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings, on February 26, 2006. The Admirals, the affiliate of the Nashville Predators, last met the Bears in the 2006 Calder Cup Finals, with the Bears winning their 9th Calder Cup.

Hershey has not played Rockford, the affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks, since Rockford joined the league in 2007. Additionally, the Bears will meet the league’s new additions, the Belleville Senators, Binghamton Devils, and Laval Rocket. Those three teams are part of the 7-team North Division. The Pacific Division is made up of 8 teams like the Atlantic.
