Barry Trotz Was Interrogated By Pittsburgh “Reporters” After Game

As expected, following the Capitals 3-2 overtime win in Game 3, head coach Barry Trotz was asked about the play that led to the Sidney Crosby injury. What wasn’t expected was the “Bush League” interrogation conducted by the Pittsburgh media. It was as if Trotz was in court and on the stand.

The Penguins’ star center was injured on a play early in the first period while driving to the net. Crosby and the Capitals Matt Niskanen would ultimately collide as Crosby was falling to the ice. Niskanen would receive a five-minute major and a game misconduct for the play.

Trotz was asked about the Crosby injury following the game. The first question regarding the play was relatively professional with Trotz responding in his typical, straightforward fashion. However, the next question, by Pittsburgh reporter Rob Rossi, who had already referred to the hit as an “assault” on Twitter, basically began to interrogate Trotz, like a scorned fan, jacked up on one too many beers:

Rossi’s pathetic behavior was reminiscent of a jilted lover, taking jabs at the guy who stole his girlfriend. To Trotz’ credit, he wasn’t going to have it, and fired back at Rossi, putting the hack in his place.

It’s a shame that the Penguins organization allows characters like this into a professional environment such as a post-game media session. But then again, it IS Pittsburgh.

It’s a shame that when the crapitals realized that they couldn’t beat the Penguins by playing hockey they had to resort to cheap shotting one of the star players of the Penguins to level the playing field!!!!!

    • Rich Sardo says:

Shut up you worthless piece of dung…Crosby and all his antics, haven’t even warranted a fine from NFL, but rest assured if OVI did same stuff, fines and suspensions for crotch hitting and slashing off fingers would happen IMMEADIATELY…

      • Jim Lukoski says:

That is complete B.S. I’m not saying that it is fair, but neither Crosby, nor ovechkin will probably ever get suspended. They are both the faces of the NHL and suspending either of them would be a black eye for the league. You are forgetting that ovechkin got away with the high stick and the trip that started all of that last night!

Crosby and ovechkin are both the faces of the NHL and that is why ovechkin got away with the trip and the high stick that started all of that last night you stupid f*/king jackass!!!!! You’re just bitter that your crapitals can’t beat the Penguins without resorting to trying to injure the Penguins stars. You would be singing a different tune if the same thing had happened to ovechkin, wouldn’t you?
