Karl Alzner’s Return Will Be a Game Time Decision

For the first time in five games, Karl Alzner will take part in the pregame skate tonight. His status for Game 3 will be determined at that time.

Alzner did not participate in the post-practice “scratches skate” which he has recently been doing. Another sign he may be ready to go tonight.

Barry Trotz has mentioned that he may go with 7 defensemen and scratch a 4th liner at some point in the series with Pittsburgh.

The Capitals would certainly benefit from the addition of Alzner to the Capitals penalty kill unit. The question remains, will the team benefit overall with 7 defensemen and one less forward?
