No Karl Alzner at Morning Skate

The Capitals held their game-day morning skate at 11:30am Monday morning at the Air Canada Center in Toronto. Karl Alzner did not participate.

The Capitals’ Public Relations people tweeted an update just before noon on Monday:

There were no other changes to the Capitals lines and defensive pairs. If Alzner is unable to play tonight, look for Nate Schmidt to take his place and be paired with John Carlson. We will update this post as details become available.

Really mixed feelings about Karl’s playing status tonight. You never want to see a guy go down with an injury, but it’s painful to see Carlson and Alzner both playing with under 100% health. Hopefully Schmidt can settle down and his speed will be an asset in game 3.
