What a month it has been for Garrett Mitchell. The Hershey captain welcomed a new baby to the family and just this morning, it was announced that he was recalled to the Washington Capitals along with Chandler Stephenson.
Mitchell is a 25-year-old right-winger from Regina, Saskatchewan who has played with the Hershey Bears since 2009-2010. In 70 games with the Bears this year, he has 10 goals and 10 assists. While it isn’t the captain’s most productive season offensively, he has made his presence known on more than one occasion sticking up for his teammates this year. This will be his first NHL game.

More on Mitchell here including why he likes to have a bit of fun on the ice in pregame.
Stephenson, a 22-year-old center from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is no stranger to the Capitals. He appeared in 12 games over the past two season for the Caps and is looking for his first career NHL point.
So far this season in Hershey, Stephenson has 10 goals and 28 assists. It is his best season to date production-wise in his young pro career. Stephenson joined the Bears at the end of the 2013-2014 season. Here’s a report on Stephenson from Development camp last season.
Congrats @Mitchy1_0 Well deserved brother.

Mitchell’s recall is great story. Had his second daughter nine days ago. Parents were flying to Harrisburg and changed flight to come here.

Stephenson will be a restricted free agent while Mitchell will be an unrestricted free agent following the end of this season.
