Beck Malenstyn, Washington’s fifth round selection in the 2016 NHL Draft has joined the Hershey Bears according to a press release today.
Malenstyn is a 19-year-old forward who was a member of the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen. He recorded 56 points (32 goals and 24 assists) this season for the Hitmen in 70 games.
The 6’2″ 194-pounder played in 70 regular season games and five playoff games last season, recording 28 points and had 14 points in 51 regular-season and 11 playoff games during the 2014-2015 season. He also appeared in five games in 2013-2014.
With the addition of Malestyn, the Bears also announced that Kris Bindulis has been released from his amateur tryout. He did not appear in any games for the Bears. He will join Latvia for the upcoming 2017 World Championships.
