The Capitals got a huge win over the Blue Jackets on Sunday night. In the third period, Alex Ovechkin levied a hit on the Blue Jackets Zach Werenski, which has raised some eye brows at the league office. Here is the hit in question:

Werenski would leave the game and not return. The Blue Jackets did not provide an update on Werenski’s condition following the game.

Aaron Portzline, who covers the Blue Jackets for the Columbus Dispatch, was told by the NHL that they will review Ovechkin’s hit on Werenski.

The game was an extremely physical contest from the start. However, following the Ovechkin hit on Werenski, things began to unravel.

We should know more on Monday as to whether or not the league will apply any additional punishment to Ovechkin.

Please, look at the hit Ovie received during a group fight. He was just standing there and a Blue Jackets punched him in the face. But I guess nobody cares what happens to Ovie.
