After their 15-game home winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Stars last night, the Capitals returned to the practice rink on Tuesday morning to put it behind them and focus on the upcoming road trip. The Capitals will fly out to San Jose to take on the Sharks on Thursday. They’ll continue their California swing with stops in Los Angeles and Anaheim over the weekend. Photos from today’s practice can be found here.
PRACTICE
The Capitals reassigned Paul Carey to Hershey this morning. On Monday, there was talk about Andre Burakovsky potentially joining the team out west but Trotz said after practice today that he will not make the trip. Instead, he will stay in Arlington and skate but there are no setbacks to his upcoming return. Trotz believes that he will get more out of staying back at Kettler and working with the trainers due to the limited practice schedule the team has while on the trip. During the three-game road trip, the Capitals will have only one practice and one morning skate.
With Carey getting reassigned to the Bears, Nate Schmidt will be the extra forward in case of any emergencies. The Capitals only have two more recall moves left this season.
