Andre Burakovksy left the game last night with a hand injury. It came in the first period as he took a shot to his right hand. Trotz said last night that he could miss some time and after practice he provided an update.
As expected, Burakovksy wasn’t on the ice for practice on Friday. When practice concluded, Trotz confirmed that Burakovsky will be out till mid to late March. Trotz also said there won’t be any surgery needed.
Burakovsky doesn’t need surgery. Sanford gets “first crack” at that spot. Vrana is another candidate to come up and play there, Trotz said.

Jay Beagle will play in tomorrow’s game, so the only change to the lineup is Zach Sanford on the third line taking over for Burakovksy.
“Obviously they’re (the third line is) on fire. They’ve been lighting it up lately and hopefully I can step in in Burkie’s spot and bring some size and speed to that line and just keep working like they’ve been. And I think things will keep going good with me joining,” said Sanford.
Lars Eller will be taking Burakovksy’s spot on the second power play unit.
“He’s obviously a big piece of this team,” Eller told reporters. “Especially as well as he’s played the last month or two. He’s gonna be missed but I think Sanford or whoever is gonna fill in that spot and is gonna be capable of contributing. In the big scheme of things, I think we’ll be alright.”
