Hobbs, the Caps fifth-round draft pick (143rd Overall) in 2015, is racking up points for his Regina Pats in the Western Hockey League (WHL). Hobbs is currently the top-scoring blueliner in the WHL.
Hobbs, 19, has shown is a ton of potential, consistently improving with each season. In the 2015-2016 season, Hobbs had 19 goals and 22 assists in only 58 games. In the 2016 playoffs, he had twice as many goals (4 total) along with 6 assists to combine for 10 points in 12 games.
Regina’s current shortage of forwards and depth on the back-end, coupled with Hobb’s proficiency for scoring, has also seen him play games at right wing for the Pats this season. He registered two goals and one assist at right wing. Hobbs is currently 5th in goals and 4th in points scored for Regina.
The life-long defensman maintains he has no plans or interest to converting to a forward.
