Travis Boyd Named to AHL All-Star Team

travis-boyd-ahl-all-starIn December, Chris Bourque was named a captain for the AHL All-Star game which will be held in nearby Lehigh Valley on January 29-30. Today second year forward, Travis Boyd, was also named to the team.

Just this week, Nova Caps published a prospect report on Boyd. Meet the Prospects: Is Travis Boyd next?

Boyd currently leads Hershey with 30 points. He had a memorable rookie season last year (21 G, 32 A) and the 23-year-old from Hopkins, Minnesota is on pace to have an even better “sophomore” season.

He has scored 10 goals and registered 20 assists so far, and is +14. As noted in our interview, Boyd is quick to credit his teammates for his success. One of those teammates, Bourque, will be his captain in Lehigh Valley.

Bourque has hit three huge hockey milestones this year. In December, he played in his 600th game and scored his 600th AHL point against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on December 10. He also went on to score his 500th point as a member of the Hershey Bears on December 28. According to a press release by the Hershey Bears, Bourque’s 608 points makes him the AHL’s active scoring leader.
