Alex Ovechkin has always been one to give back to the community, particularly when it comes to kids of the DMV area. Today, he skated with kids from Fort DuPont Ice Arena as part of its Kids On Ice program.
Accompanying Ovi and the Fort DuPont Cannons was Fort DuPont founder Neal Henderson. As mentioned above, Ovechkin has always enjoyed giving back to the DMV’s kids, whether it be granting the wish of cancer patients or taking out his biggest fans on sushi dates. He, along with the Caps, are very active in charity work and are especially active around the holiday season.

Fort DuPont Ice Arena offers free figure skating, hockey, and speed skating lessons to economically disadvantaged kids in the Washington, D.C. community (see more here), a program called Kids on Ice. They are a non-profit organization that was formed in 1996 in response to the closing of another ice arena in the area.

Ovechkin has hosted kids from the American Special Hockey Association at Kettler for the last few years and as mentioned above, is highly active in giving back to the kids of the Washington D.C. area. Way to go Ovi!

I couldn’t post this comment in other locations so here goes. Issues have been raised about Ovi’s production. He got married in August. this is a life changing event. other Caps who had a first child had production issues…too little sleep. Ovi may be adjusting to too many honey-dos or the fact he is now married.
