It’s no secret that Andre Burakovsky has been struggling so far this season. Rumors began to swirl last week that Andre could be sitting out a game if things didn’t change.

Capitals head coach Barry Trotz told media Tuesday night before the Islanders game that Burakovsky would indeed be a “healthy scratch” for tonight’s game.

Burakovsky has not scored a goal since opening night, when he potted two goals against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Here’s what Barry Trotz said about scratching Andre Burakovsky:

So far this season, Burakovsky has 8 assists to go along with his two goals, but hasn’t scored a point in his last seven games. Last season Burakovsky tallied a total of 38 points (17 goals, 21 assists). Burakovsky’s current 26-game goalless streak is the longest of his career.
