Drafted by the Capitals with the 13th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, there was a lot of hype surrounding forward Jakub Vrana when he was recalled by the Capitals a week ago. And he hasn’t let them down, as he’s already scored his very first NHL goal to go along with his promising play.

The goal came in tonight’s game against the Buffalo Sabres. Vrana beat Buffalo netminder Robin Lehner to earn his first (hopefully of many) goal, coming at 12:39 of the middle frame. The goal was setup by a nice zone entry and feed from Evgeny Kuznetsov.

Vrana is considered one of the building blocks of the team’s future. In 18 games played with the Hershey Bears this season, Vrana has 16 points (nine goals, seven assists), and is among the Bears’ leading scorers.

NoVa Caps sends a big CONGRATS to Vrana on his first NHL goal!
