NoVa Caps’ followers, will you please join us today in welcoming Michael Jenkins back to work after an unexpected death is his immediate family. NoVa Caps was extremely saddened to hear that nearly two weeks ago, Michael’s younger brother, Marquis died suddenly of bacterial meningitis.

You can watch this video where Jenks’ CSN co-workers share the very sad news.

Michael will be returning to his CSN anchor desk today, Monday, November 28th and we can only imagine how very difficult today, tomorrow and the coming weeks and months will be for him. We’d like to ask all of you to please visit Michael’s social media pages and flood his wall with messages of comfort and support as well as encouragement on what will most definitely be an extremely challenging and emotional day for Michael.

Often times, when tragedy strikes people don’t know what to say – so they remain silent – please don’t, share what your heart tells you to say, and know that Jenks will be so very appreciative that you’ve taken the time to think of him.

Michael recently posted this message on his facebook page:

Jenks is a dear friend of NoVa Caps and a huge supporter of Caps’ Nation. We want to take this time to let him know that the entire Washington Capitals community is here for him during this very tough time.

Jenks, we hope that you can feel our love, support and strength we’re sending your way. We can only imagine what it’s like to have to go on television and pretend to be happy, when your heart is breaking. We will be tuning into Geico Sportsnet Central to cheer you on in your return to work – because we know that is what Marquis would want us to do – so that is exactly what we are going to do!” — NoVa Caps

Today we will all collectively say “Let’s Go Jenks!“.

UPDATE: In closing CSN’s Geico Sportsnet Central last night, Michael made a beautiful tribute to his brother Marquis. Michael spoke eloquently and passionately about Marquis who he said was “the kindness and sweetest soul.” Michael also said: “…never hesitate at any opportunity you have to tell someone how much you love them. And that is a message that is infinitely more important than any commentary or opinion that I could ever express during this show.
