Head coach Barry Trotz met with the media following Saturday morning’s optional skate. During the media scrum, Trotz was asked about the Capitals recent third period collapses.

The Capitals gave up a two-goal lead and a three-goal lead in the third period of their last two games, both against Winnipeg. Trotz stated “maybe we’re reading too much into it”, stating that Winnipeg has been strong in the third period this season, not just against the Capitals.

The Capitals face the Florida Panthers Saturday night at Verizon Center. The Capitals gave up a two-goal lead in the first meeting between the two teams, but pulled away late for a 4-2 win.
