If you are heading to the Capitals’ home opener tomorrow night, you might notice a few new things around the Verizon Center. Among them, the old banners have been replaced with brand spanking new ones.
The new banners include an updated “Presidents’ Trophy” banner, that includes last seasons Presidents’ Trophy campaign. John Walton gives us a sneak peak at the new fabric:
Walking into the booth today, found new Caps banners upon my arrival. Pretty clean and sharp if you ask me. pic.twitter.com/ugk4JQIvVS

There has been no official announcement as to whether or not the Capitals will make any kind of tribute for winning last season’s Presidents’ Trophy.
ROCK THE RED CARPET
The Washington Capitals will launch their 2016-17 regular-season home opener on Saturday, Oct. 15, with a special red carpet event, presented by GEICO, on F Street in front of Verizon Center from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The Capitals host the New York Islanders at 7 p.m. that evening.
The Capitals 2016-17 team will begin arriving in cars provided by Lexus on F Street, between 6th and 7th street NW, at approximately 3:30 p.m. Capitals PA announcer Wes Johnson will serve as the master of ceremonies and will introduce players as they are escorted by preselected fans down the red carpet. Upon arrival players will greet fans and pose for pictures.

The event is free and open to the public; game tickets are not required to attend the red carpet arrivals. A live DJ will be on-site to entertain fans, in addition to appearances by Caps mascot Slapshot and Red Rockers.
The red carpet arrivals will be broadcast live stream on CSNMidAtlantic.com, while Saturday’s game will be broadcast on CSN and can be heard on the Capitals Radio Network.
