Washington Capitals Canine Calendar (Photos)

alex-ovechkin-washington-capitals-canine-calendar-no-2For those of us who love our Caps and love puppies – today’s a day we always look forward to! Photographs were taken in DC earlier this afternoon for the annual “Caps Canine Calendar”. NoVa Caps was onsite for the photo shoot – get ready for an overdose of adorableness!

washington-capitals-canine-calendar-puppiesThe 2017 Caps Canine Calendar will be available for $20 beginning on Friday, November 18th when the Capitals take on the Detroit Red Wings at the MSE Foundation table located in front of Section 104 on the main Verizon Center concourse. And who better than to purchase the calendars from than the Caps’ “better halves“! Speaking of “better halves”, the official 2017 Caps Canine Calendar photographer is Daniel Winnik’s wife, Taylor and also helping out with the shoot was Karl Alzner’s wife, Mandy.

Have no fear! If you’re unable to make it to the game to purchase your calendar, there will be limited quantities also available in the team stores at both Kettler Iceplex and the Verizon Center. In addition, you can purchase them online by clicking here – they will go on-sale on November 18th.

washington-capitals-canine-calendarHOLD ON! There’s another way to get one:  NoVa Caps wants to give you a chance to WIN a 2017 Caps Canine Calendar. If you’re reading this on Facebook, in the comments below this article, post a picture of your pup along with a short story about him or her – and if you’re on Twitter – reply to this post with a pic along with a little bit about what makes your pup so special! The NoVa Caps’ team of contributors will pick a few of our favorites and we’ll notify you before the end of the week, if you are one of the lucky winners!

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of the calendars will benefit Homeward Trails Animal Rescue, a non-profit organization that provides pet adoptions in the DMV. You can find out more about Homeward Trails Animal Rescue by clicking here. Given the popularity of the calendar, it is not surprising that the Capitals have raised in excess of $114K for Homeward Trails through the sale of the “Caps Canine Calendar” since 2014.
