MORNING SKATE NOTES
This was the first appearance of Trotz, and Holtby. Philipp Grubauer, also returning from the World Cup, had the day off, and will report tomorrow. Holtby told reporters following the morning skate that he has a desire to play tonight and it is vital for him to get as much game action as he can before it all counts.

MISCELLANEOUS
Tom Wilson will not be in the lineup tonight, however he was taking some practice reps on the ice before morning skate. He is recovering from an upper body injury that he suffered in Monday’s preseason opener.

The Caps will host the St. Louis Blues on Monday night, in the first of a home-and-home set (sort of). On Wednesday the two will meet again this time in Kansas City, Missouri.
