In the second game of the afternoon, Team Czech Republic visited the Yubileyny Sports Palace in Saint Petersburg, for a tilt with Team Russia. Team Russia would end up winning this one late, 4-3, after a furious comeback by the Czech Republic knotted the game, 3-3 in the third period. The Capitals troika was relatively quiet for the entire game, as Alex Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Dmitry Orlov went without a goal.  Dmitry Orlov would register the only assist of the three Capitals, and Captain Alex Ovechkin was held to just one shot for the entire contest.

A few scenes from the contest:
We start with Alex Ovechkin, reeling in the moment, during the Russian national anthem.

Dmitry Orlov did not look sharp at the start of this one, giving up an early turnover in the defensive zone in the first minute of play, and was on the ice and in the mix for the Czech Republic’s first goal.

Alex Ovechkin showed some serious hustle to get back and defend on this potential break-away attempt by the Czech Republic.

Each of Capitals on Team Russia would also find time in the penalty box.
