According to General Fanager, the Washington Capitals have signed goalie Drew MacIntyre to a professional tryout offer (PTO).
With Braden Holtby, and now Philipp Grubauer, both participating in the World Cup of Hockey, the Capitals were in need of an additional goaltender in order to meet needs for the upcoming training camp.
With Holtby & Grubauer going to World Cup, getting Drew MacIntyre on PTO (per @generalfanager) makes sense. Adds goalie for training camp.

MacIntyre, 33, was last under contract with the Carolina Hurricanes, but became an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of last season (2015-2016), and was unsigned to date. MacIntyre spent last season playing in the AHL for the Charlotte Checkers and the Rockford Icehogs.
